Building A Lap Pool - Important Factors To Consider
The first decision when building
a lap pool is obviously where you intend to place
it.
How much space is available? Many people like to build a
deck that goes from the pool to their home. This can be for
both aesthetics and convenience but clearly is only possible if
space permits. Starting the process by taking measurements of
your available space will allow you to design a solid plan from
the start. But always keep in mind any zoning laws in your area
that may prohibit building placing the pool either too close to
the property line of your house.
Once you've decided on a location and figured out how big
the pool will be, the installers can begin digging the
foundation to begin the building process.
Allow several weeks for building a lap pool, but be sure to
adjust accordingly for any weather problems that may slow the
process. Your geographic location is always a factor. If it is
winter in a northern city then it may be best to wait until
spring rolls around. Digging and pouring the foundation will
probably not take more than a couple of days. The next steps
include building the walls and setting the ceramic tiles in
place. If you are getting a fiberglass lap pool it's just a
matter of setting the structure in place and making sure it is
level and secure. Once completed, water can be added and you
can begin swimming.
Whether you are building a lap pool for exercise or simply
for entertaining and relaxing, you have made a good decision
for several reasons. Obviously the health benefits are many,
but your new pool will also increase your home's value. It's
perfect for giving the kids an outdoor and healthy activity
when the are off from school for the summer. During the winter
however it is recommended that you have some kind of cover on
the pool. Yes a good cover will cost extra but it will be worth
it. You'll keep the rain and snow from getting into the water
which will help keep it clean for when you open it up again
next spring.
