Proper Lap Pool Dimensions Are Important For Several
Reasons
The first reason lap pool dimensions are so
important has to do with zoning.
Obviously you want to make sure it will fit properly where
you want to install it, but there's more to it than that. Do
you know your neighborhoods zoning laws? You better before you
install your new pool. It will save you a big headache later
on. For instance some places specifically state that a pool
must be so many feet from a fence, your neighbor's yard, or
your house. If you don't meet these requirements there could be
trouble. In a best case scenario, you need to get permission to
construct the pool ahead of time and that permission will not
be granted. In a worst case scenario, you install the pool only
to find out the city can ask you to dig it back up because the
requirements have not been met. Ouch.
But lap pool dimensions are about more than just laws and
ordinances. If you're getting a lap pool, chances are you are
serious or at least plan on getting serious about your exercise
routine. That means it's important to you to know how many
miles you swim in a day, an hour, or a week. Since you're
probably not getting an Olympic sized lap pool, you'll need to
know the dimensions to properly calculate those numbers.
Let's face it, most people won't have the money or the space
to build a regulation sized pool, but that should not deter you
from getting the lap pool you badly want. Get a smaller one,
swim a few more laps, and you'll still get the great workout
you are looking for. And it really is a great workout. That's
why lap pools are increasing in popularity among athletes
training not just for swimming, but for any sport where being
in top physical condition is a must.
And whether you swim for sport or just to stay fit and
strong, a lap pool is the ideal low impact, aerobic and
resistance workout. Don't let the lap pool dimensions stop you.
Even if the pool is not regulation, still get in the water and
swim. Just use the lap pool dimensions to figure out how far
you've gone. If you know the dimensions, your distance
calculations will be just as accurate as if you had a
regulation sized pool.
